2023 Estate Riesling


Notes of: heart strings, soggy bottoms, and my wife’s old face

Aromatic, floral and delicate, balanced with 3 yr old oak.

After 24 hours on skins, we lightly pressed this fruit using a horizontal bag press. Then a long Macedon Ranges cool fermentation over a month.

We racked the wine into 50% oak and 50% stainless steel, to maintain its aromatic character, whilst giving it subtle complexity and texture. It has a prominent, interesting acid with a very low ph. But it’s balanced well into the wine, and the freshness is apparent but not overpowering: something this region is known for, as the berries stay on the vine far longer than most in Australia, given the cool nature of the climate.

It’s as you’d expect from a premium, estate, Macedon Ranges Riesling: crisp and fresh, with a wonderful length.
