2019 Pinot Noir

Notes of: Love, Laughter, Questionable 90’s House Music & Dog-like joy

This pinot is from our younger vines, planted between 8 and 15 years ago. We made this in collaboration with Ben Rankin (Wilimee Wines), and is the first Zig Zag Rd. Pinot Noir to be made in this style: cold soaked whole grape bunches straight from the vineyard; gentle destemming without crushing the grapes; wild yeast fermentation; gentle extraction through infrequent foot stomping and hand plunging; and 12 months of ageing in seasoned French barrels. A tiny bit of sulphur was used at bottling (20 parts per million).

It has created a lighter, prettier pinot with a vibrant colour and beautiful red fruits. It’s a smoother and more delicate pinot compared with previous vintages, and has only a touch of the savory (a little mint and eucalyptus) to balance the fruit. We couldn’t be happier.
