CELLAR DOOR

Our current opening hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 5pm

Our opening hours are seasonal and dependant on events. A quick check on Google or our socials will let you know in real time if we’re open (or not) before you make the drive out.

Tastings

Our cellar door is the best place to try a range or our hand-crafted cool climate wines. Tastings are updated seasonally with each new vintage.

Tastings are $10 per person, with $5 redeemable with each purchase.

For tastings for groups of five or more, please email in advance to check availability.

Visitors are so very welcome to skip the tasting and head straight to our stunning veranda to enjoy a glass overlooking the vineyard and the eucalyptus forest beyond.

Order-ahead Picnic

We are tickled pink to be partnering with Daylesford Picnic Boxes to create the perfect picnic at our vineyard. You can enjoy your picnic on one of the tables on our shady deck overlooking the sweeping vineyards, or bring along a picnic rug and enjoy it under one of the umbrellas on our lawn next to the cellar door.

We cannot recommend these picnic boxes enough; they are packed to the brim with favourites made by small-batch artisans in and around Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges, and include a unique picnic keep-kit with picnic tools for you to keep. The food items pair perfectly with our wines (we have thoroughly tested this claim!), and all the food packaging is either recyclable or home-compostable. A little recycling guide inside the box will ensure you have an environmentally responsible picnic.

Select from either a gourmet or taster box, and you can have the option to add a local non-alcoholic drink so your designated driver doesn’t feel too left out (available to select when you order via the links above).

Order ahead via the links above, and your box will be delivered directly to the cellar door on the morning of your visit, so all you have to do is turn up! Please note, to support an incredible local business, and to ensure all our guests have a wonderful time, we work exclusively with Daylesford Picnic Boxes, and therefore cannot allow any other food on premises.

Please let us know if you would like to reserve a table for a picnic.

During these pandemic times we are limiting the seating time to an hour per small group.

We are a family and so we are kid friendly

Please note however – Zig Zag Rd is a working farm and so we have machinery and barrels etc around the farm that are dangerous. Please ensure your children, of all ages, stay with you at all times and stay within the cellar door / deck / lawn area that has been roped off. We are sorry we can’t let kids, or adults, roam in the vines or anywhere else on the farm for both biosecurity and safety reasons (snakes / machinery, etc).

Dogs are welcome too!

Just please bring a lead, it just keeps everyone safe if your dog is on a lead at all times.

Parking

We have a small car park right next to the cellar door that is on roadbase (so is a bit gravelly). However please note we have limited parking options at the moment, and none of it is under cover or in the shade so please call ahead to ensure we can fit you in.

Getting here

Please note:

  • When you are arriving at Zig Zag Rd. wines, there is a vineyard next to us, called Basalt Ridge with a big yellow winery sign – that is not us! We are the driveway after that, with the Zig Zag Rd. sign outside. Sorry it is a little confusing.
  • Google Maps error: sometimes when people insert Zig Zag Rd wines into google maps it takes them down a road called Queens Lane – do not go down it in any weather! It is just okay in summer, if you have a 4WD, but we strongly urge you go along the Daylesford-Malmsbury Road then down Zig Zag Road.

By Car:

From Daylesford – Follow the Daylesford-Malmsbury road, and take a left onto Zig Zag Road. before you get into the Malmsbury area. If you get to a railway bridge you have gone too far! Once on Zig Zag Road, follow it until you see a vineyard on the left. We are the SECOND driveway on the left, not Basalt Ridge wines.

From Kyneton (or Melbourne) – Head to Malmsbury on the M79 and once there go through and exit the village up the hill towards Taradale. Take a left before you get to the top of the hill, onto the Daylesford-Malmsbury Road, towards the train station. Go over a railway line bridge and head towards Daylesford. After a couple of KM, there will be a right turn onto Zig Zag Road. Once on Zig Zag Road, follow it until you see a vineyard on the left. We are the SECOND driveway on the left, not Basalt Ridge wines.

By Train:

There is a VLine train station in Malmsbury (direct from Melbourne) which is approx. 5km from Zig Zag Rd Wines.
